Robert Brum

Journalist | Writer | Editor | Storyteller

I’m a versatile, deadline-driven writer and editor with skills spanning the worlds of print and digital content.

During a time of constant change in the media industry, I gained a reputation as an innovative journalist and nimble manager able to shift gears quickly to meet the demands of new audiences.

After a history-making career covering New York City’s northern suburbs for The Journal News and lohud.com, I’m growing my brand as a journalist to include feature writing for The Stamford Advocate, The River Journal, Westchester Magazine, blogging, ghostwriting and book editing.

I’m especially focused on writing about my passion topics: Bicycling, hiking, music, history and literature.

I have keen instincts for identifying trends and creating compelling narratives that drive readership. My grasp of metrics and SEO delivers that content to the right audience at the right time.

As an editor I’m quick, accurate and do my best work under pressure, whether a story needs an attention-grabbing lede or top-to-bottom rewrite. I’ve guided experienced reporters to strengthen their skills and reshape their focus, and mentored dozens of new hires and interns.

Key skills: Writing, reporting, rewriting, feature writing, editing, headlines, proofreading, producing digital content, SEO, projects, social media, blogging, team building, beat coaching, mentoring, photos, video, community outreach, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, WordPress
